Postmoderna teorier har gång på gång visat sig vara falska, nonsens (alltså inte ens falska) eller intetsägande. Med andra ord är den reellt existerande postmodernismen i bästa fall överflödig teoretiskt sett. Samtidigt undergräver den vedertagna samhällsteorier som med all önskvärd tydlighet visar hur makt fungerar och vad dess konsekvenser är. Alltså är den användbar från en ideologisk synvinkel.
